Reasonable fertilizer source and fertilizer application rate is one of the important factors to improve the fruit quality of Citrus maxima ""Hongroumiyou"". In this study, the 5-year-old C. maxima ""Hongroumiyou"" planting base in Meixian county, Meizhou city, Guangdong province was used as the experimental material. The control group was not fertilized, and the application rates of organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer were set to 15 kg · N-1 · Year-1, 20 kg · N-1· Year-1, and 25 kg · N-1· Year-1, respectively. The effects of different fertilizer sources and fertilizer rates on the appearance and edible quality of C. maxima ""Hongroumiyou"" were compared and analyzed. The results showed that the application of fertilizer could significantly improve the fruit quality of C. maxima ""Hongroumiyou""(P<0.05). Compared with inorganic fertilizer, the application of organic fertilizer could signifificantly improve the edible rate of C. maxima ""Hongroumiyou""(P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in single fruit weight, fruit shape index, moisture content and juice yield. With the increase of organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer, the single fruit weight, edible rate and juice yield of C. maxima ‘Hongrou miyou’ increased signifificantly. Considering the harmfulness of inorganic fertilizer to soil and environment, it is suggested that organic fertilizer should be used instead of inorganic fertilizer or combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizer in the cultivation of C. maxima ""Hongroumiyou"".
